JFNE started in February 2021 when I decided to see if I could make some videos to have an extra income. The idea of “Joe From New England” was an off shoot of my “Joe from the Cape” Facebook page. I was living on the Cape, workig, umpiring baseball and officiating hockey on the Cape and the South Shore of Massachusetts. I would call into a radio station (CAT COUNTRY 98.1) in Rhode Island which at the time was the closest Country station (and then there was 102.5 in Boston. Cape Country 104 came on line later on). I would be a regular call in for the Morning Show hosted by this DJ named Tim Leary and the morning Showgram! So they said who is calling I would say “Joe from the Cape.”
After living on the Cape for 10 years taking care of my mom and dad, and being having my son on the weekends, I ended up getting custody of my son when his mom took ill and she passed away in 2014. He was settled in his school so we had to move off the cape to keep him in his school where he had friends, and after what he was going through with the loss of his mom, that would of been even worse for him, losing friends after losing his mom. We moved about 15 minutes away from his school. I still have this apartment in Foxborough today, where my son, now 24 still resides. However, a couple of year after I ran into an old friend’s mom, and had a chance to have lunch with this old friend. We have been together ever since. That was 6 years ago.
Fast forward to 4 years later and after watching YouTubers with Dianne talking about Disney and Cruising, I decided that I wanted to give this a shot. I am still green in my eyes after 2 years. We started with 1 video at the “Minute Man National Park” with the “Paul Revere Capture Site.” This was Episode 1. Even though I work around the corner from there, I haven’t had a chance to team with my son, who is my videographer to do a part 2. Maybe Part 2 should be 2yrs and 2months later. Writing this “About” on 2/22/2023. Too many 2’s? Since that 1st video, we have done vlogs on Walt Disney World, Disney Dream, UNH Football, Hockey, Marching / Pep Bands, and some other UNH Music Stuff. We have also done Curry College Soccer. There will be some vlogs about the NCL Breakaway Cruise (Vloggers Extravaganza) when I knock out the Fall of 2022.
I just went over 100 subscribers (900 to go to get monetized). I was hoping it would go faster but it hasn’t. I have 2 channels, both “Joe From New England” aka JFNE, and the “KA1GDQ CHANNEL” which is my ham radio call sign. The ham channel is slow, actually I even missed doing February’s update. But I will try and get back into that soon. My JFNE channel is doing better. As of this date, I had 115 subscribers but I need to do better quality work.
So give me all the bad stuff and the good stuff. I can’t get better if I don’t know what needs fixing.
